Target has temporarily closed most of its Bay Area locations while protests over the death of George Floyd roil the nation.
“We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing communities across the country. At this time, we have made the decision to close a number of our stores. We anticipate most stores will be closed temporarily,” the company said in a statement Saturday. Target is headquartered in Minneapolis, where Floyd, who is black, died after being pinned down by the neck by a white police officer.
